I put together 36 Hamentaschen a few years ago and figured I would update this and add the recipe I use.
Classic Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 stick margarine (room temp)
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of sugar
- 2 tbs orange juice
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups Flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
Directions
- Cream margarine and sugar together
- Add eggs, OJ, and vanilla
- Add 2 tsp baking powder
- Add a pinch of salt
- Add 2 cups of flour gradually and mix completely
- Divide into 2 balls and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes
- Roll out onto a floured board, quarter inch thickness (use a lot of flour on both the board and rolling pin as the dough is very sticky at first).
- Use cup or circle cookie cutters to make circles depending on the size you want
- Put a tsp of filling in the middle of each circle and fold up the sides.
- Bake at 375 for 10 – 12 min until golden brown
