Over Yontif, it was pointed out that I put “Jesus Candle” on my shopping list for Yontif. Many years ago, I had forgotten to purchase a 3-day or 2-day yontif candle and all of the stores that carried the candles were already closed for the holiday. So I ran to the supermarket to see if I could find something. I reached out to the store clerk who pointed me in the direction of the ethnic candles, near the Latin foods usually. Several of the candles, I found had pictures of various saints or Jesus, but there were also a many in various colors and they lasted a while. They were definitely a better option than the smelly fragrant ones that I had found. These candles can last anywhere between 3 and 7 days. So we usually keep a few in the house. When I go to the supermarket now and can’t find them, I usually ask where the Jesus candles are because otherwise, they have no clue what I am talking about.
